Sandals of My Dream |
Sandals are one of the first types of shoes, but they will not lose the relevance until now. History of sandals begins in Egypt, where Egyptians produce precisely fitted papyrus soles, fastened with leather straps with footprints on wet sand already in 3500 BC. These shoes protect feet of Egyptians from hot sand and the uneven surface, and also served as a sign of high status. Egyptian sandals keep leg open completely, protecting only the sole. Roman sandals differ in the abundance of leather straps that cover the leg. The soles of sandals of Roman empresses were poured out of pure gold, and the straps were decorated with precious stones. Now this kind of footwear is also very relevant in the hot summer. Sandals got a rebirth in the first half of XX century, when the designers had provided this shoe with heel, and gave them the appearance of modern sandals with straps. Girls strappy sandals called fashion boom in the 60 years of the last century. They were made of transparent plastic, nylon yarn, cut curved heels and otherwise experimented with materials. Designers try to surprise us with complicated “architectural” techniques in the creation of sandals: they change the shape of the heel or make a hole in it, decorate the straps with rhinestones or artificial flowers. The final principle is: the complexity of the style speaks about its fashion. I like these shoes, because in hot weather feet “breathe”. I remember feeling uncomfortable when I forgot my sandals at home. That summer I visited my aunt, but did not think that the climate of the area, where she was living, was different from the climate of mine. Coming out of the plane, I felt the hot wind was blowing and realized that I might not be comfortable entirely in sneakers with thick soles. I thought longingly about my sandals, which I much needed at that moment. I had two days of torment in running shoes because I could not buy shoes at once (I just didn’t have money). When I received money, I rushed into the shop to buy shoes with straps! When I found Kohls with girls strappy sandals, I felt a huge relief! Perhaps you imagine my delight when I took off my warm shoes and put on sandals! |
